There is an African saying, "The blessing is next to the wound.”

It's a profound suggestion that no matter how our experiences have affected us, we possess the inner resources needed to heal, learn and grow, in order to move forward. By seeking out therapy you are making a decision for a personal journey to better understand life’s conflicts, pain, and stressors.

I strive to create a non-judgemental, comfortable, calm and nurturing environment. This will allow us to explore together those issues that are most important to you in a safe space while receiving support, guidance, confidentiality and empathic perception.

When looking for the right therapist, it is important that you choose someone with whom you feel most comfortable. By listening to your needs, I find the model of therapy that will be most productive, and when appropriate, may adapt an eclectic approach.

About Me

I have always had a tremendous need to help others. When I was young I began looking for more meaning because I didn't understand why adults said and did destructive or hurtful things. I analyzed books, plays and movies searching for a deeper dimension to the content of our character, choices, behaviors, reasoning and relationships. I have always wanted people to be happier, and found myself to be the happiest when I was listening to and helping others in some way.

Often in my individual, couple, family and group sessions I hear clients talk about the difficulty of trying to move into another phase of their life. This is especially difficult if the change in their life has come without them wanting it or without warning. They can feel out of control, frightened, and filled with anxiety. My education, experience and passion for helping people is how I discovered ways to relieve this anxiety so we can face fear with grace, with skills, not live in denial, and find the empowerment and acceptance needed to move through these times of transformation.

When we are in the throes of change, it can be hard to imagine getting to the other side. When we get the right support to help us through, we do begin to find new comfort. To do this kind of work with clients is an opportunity I am passionate about.

I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy along with object relations, psychodynamic and humanistic theories -- all of which I use as appropriate to each client's needs.  I specialize in mindfulness, empty nest related issues, and I am certified in a wide range of grief and trauma treatments. I have a thriving practice that provides relief from anxiety, depression, and mood disorders for individuals, couples and families.
